GP Making Scrambled Egg

Making Scrambled Egg with Tracie's Morning Group

Our theme for this month has been the farm. The children have been learning about the various animals and all about life on the farm.

The children in Tracie's group were learning about chickens and how eggs come from chickens. Following on from this a conversation was sparked about eggs and how we can eat eggs in many different ways. The children then decided that they would like to make scrambled egg for their snack.

All the children got to feel the eggs and discussed how they felt, whether they were hard/soft and all about shells.

They then cracked the eggs into the bowl and whisked them together with some milk and butter. All of the children got the opportunity to whisk up the eggs and see the ingredients blend together

They then went into the microwave where the children got to watch the process of going from raw uncooked egg to cooked delicious scrambled egg.

The children then ate them with some toast and fruit for their snack and it was enjoyed by all :)

This was a spontaneous activity that incorporated the children's curiosities around how animals produce our food.
